It is also just minutes from the major Monteverde adventure-in-nature attractions including Selvatura Adventure Park, Treetopia, and the Don Juan Coffee Tour. Monteverde is close to the geographical heart of Costa Rica. This translates into a short yet scenic drive away from both international airports and other popular beach and mountain destinations.
This is a two-and-a-half-hour drive that will take you from the Central Valley down onto the Central Pacific Coast and back up into the mountains to Monteverde.
After leaving the airport, turn north on the Pan American Highway (Route 1) for approximately 7km, where you will take the Coyol exit for 4km before turning right onto Route 27. This modern, tolled highway passed by the port of Caldera, connecting with Route 23. This will take you straight back to the Pan American Highway (Route 1), which you will follow north for 20 minutes before turning right onto Route 606. Follow this paved road that will take you up the mountain directly to Monteverde.
Sibū Lodge, Monteverde is a scenic two-hour and fifty-minute drive that will take you south along the Pan American Highway (Route 1).
Upon leaving the airport boulevard, turn left, which will take you north along the Nicoya Península to Liberia, Guanacaste´s capital city. At the major intersection about 30 minutes later, turn right up the ramp to the Pan American Highway. Continue south along the Highway for just over 2 hours. Next, turn left onto Route 606, which will take you via the rural town of Sardinal and then up the mountainside to Monteverde-Santa Elena.
