About Us
Sibū Lodge is named in honor of Sibū a revered deity in the mythology of the Bri-Bri indigenous people of Costa Rica, who would take on the appearance of a hummingbird to bring divine messages to human beings. Sibū Lodge symbolizes Bri-Bri’s deep-rooted connection to the land and their commitment to living in harmony with nature and the hummingbird with its vitality, dynamism, and beauty. The creation, expansion, and success of Sibū Lodge is thanks to the vision of a local Costa Rican with a profound love for Monteverde. Inspired by its natural beauty and mentors, he paved the way for what is now a collection of diverse businesses including the Treebū Hotels brand.
Sibū Lodge honors the local Bri Bri indigenous community through its name as the creator, Siboo, the god of the mountains, forests, and rivers, embodying the essence of nature and the life- giving forces that sustain the land and its inhabitants. After undergoing extensive and striking renovations Sibū Lodge is now a leading hotel in Monteverde with 28 rooms, a restaurant, bar, fire pits, lounge bar and roof tops to enjoy the stunning sunrises and sunsets. Guests are welcomed to enjoy its sister property, Hotel Poco a Poco event venue, nature trail, pool, jacuzzi, and spa as additional amenities to this renewed lodging experience.
The Sibū Lodge and its sister properties Hotel & Spa Poco a Poco, Monteverde Country Lodge and La Fortuna Lodge, became the Treebū Hotels in 2020 as part of the Symphony Group. This ever-growing family of companies and their collaborators are an integral part of the now vibrant and colorful journey, similar to the hummingbird and Sibū Lodge´s spirit animal, and its achievements, embraced by the Monteverde community.
